More than 7th Heaven: Mt. Titlis, Switzerland

Home base: Lucerne

From Lucerne to Engelberg by train,
Seeking the heavens once again.
Xpress cable car carried us part of the way,
To board the Titlis Rotair gondola for a panoramic display
Of the grandness of Mt. Titlis,
Leaving us breathless.

Once reaching Mt. Titlis summit at 10,000 feet,
We can see how the sky’s the limit, a visual treat.
Next challenge was the Cliff Walk
On a suspended bridge that made us almost balk.
But we braved through the span in spite of the cold wave,
Leading us to Titlis Glacier cave.

Before going all the way back down,
We stopped at a lake a few levels above town
To see more of the mountain and glacial lake views,
And took a rowboat for a short scenic cruise.
Then to Engelberg base village we finally went,
To visit a historical museum, witnessing a mountain bovine event.
On to get snacks in a local cheese factory,
Just before going to a Benedictine monastery.
Alas, the day soon ended,
So back to Lucerne we returned, feeling splendid.

Loose in Lucerne,
Unending charm and beauty,
Camera can’t capture it all,
Every turn a dazzler,
Reeling with joy,
Near nirvana,
Everlasting memories . . .

Crapper John

Inspired by various events

When sh-t happens,
Crap hits the fan;
No ifs, ands, or buts left unsoiled.

Hell breaks loose,
Time is squandered;
Stress levels up the wazoo.

Comfort comes at a premium,
Think Charmin vs. a generic product;
The john the only source of solace.

Horsing around with Charley

What a spaz,
Like an escapee from Alcatraz,
Wreaking havoc,
Going manic,
Twisting muscles,
Making me call out, ‘uncle,’

Cramping my style,
While raising my bile,
That Charley horsing around again,
What a pain!

Poetic Just Us (An encore)

(5th and last of a mini-series of taking poetic license)

Three players on the sidewalk,
Watching passersby and listen to their talk;
That’s just us.

Together we used to make music;
We were quite therapeutic;
That was just us.

We played rock, funk, and blues;
Now we never make the news;
That’s just us.

We’ve been put out to pasture,
Open to any snatcher;
That’s just us.

Poetic Injustice

(4th of a mini-series of taking poetic license)

They made their decision.
They went over each question.
Still, there’s no justice.

Their collective mind is made;
All considerations were weighed.
Still, there’s no justice.

The more the lawyer is paid,
The more the jury is swayed;
All I see is injustice.

Poetic Just Us (Redux)

(3rd of a mini-series of taking poetic license)

At first it was the land and the sea
That separated you and me
Before we could be just us.

Then your hours got shorter,
And Skype made it a little better
Before we could be just us.

Hard to believe you are here with me,
But can you turn off the TV?
Before we can be just us.

Get horizontal,
So we can be full frontal
And finally we can be just us.
