Exploring Egypt: Old Cairo

1st of a series on my 7-day stay in Egypt

Went to Old Cairo,
Visited St. George Church and
Coptic Museum.

Later in the eve,
Khan al-Khalili bazaar
Was a place to see.

Next:
Day 2: Giza/Cairo

Hump Day

Middle of the week,
Thinking ‘bout my travels to
Egypt and Jordan . . .

[Picture above was taken in Wadi Rum, Jordan.]

Path to Oblivion

Along the trail,
Trailing behind schedule,
Scheduling in my head,
Heading for trouble,
Troubling my life,
Living for a journey,
Journeying nowhere.

Unnatural Wonder

A large crane by the sea,
Move up closer for a better look-see;
No need to worry about being heard,
It’s not the long-legged, long-necked bird.

Fountain Blue

Idyllic setting,
A romantic rendezvous,
Fantasy comes true.

An illicit tryst,
Fleeting lust, lasting regret;
A lapse in judgment.

Summah Dinnah

Life’s simple pleashahs,
Lobstah on buttered brioche,
Fresh garden veggies,

A home-cooked dinnah,
With New England clam chowdah,
Topped with bacon bits.

State of the Union

A nation divided,

With leadership derided,

Rivaling factions

On a tangent of distractions.

The media giving them fuel,

Focusing on the drivel,

Congress continues to show inaction,

Amidst a circus of tawdry attractions.

The state of the union

Is like cutting an onion —

Makes you weep.

Any Way You Slice It

Slice it,
Dice it,
Divide it,
Just give me a piece
Of pizza
Immediately,
Or else
I’ll slice you,
Dice you,
Divide you
In more than one piece,
Figuratively.
