Snowhere to travel
No planes, trains, or cars in sight,
Stranded here for now.

Remembering his message:
Equal rights for all

You only live once;
Have a decadent Sunday!
Try the lovely tort.
Fresh buttered pillows
Wafts of warm rolls calling me
My role is to eat

Shock
Say it isn’t so
I can’t accept your leaving
My world just went dark
Pain
Time crawls without you
The air is a stifling cloak
Each breath is a sob
Anger
How dare you just go
Leaving joy we could have had
Things we could have shared
Depression
Sadness hangs on me
Twenty-four hours each day
No sign of retreat
Acceptance
At last I wake up
Signs of life and hope appear
One step at a time.

Ashes to Ashes, my Heroes, Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust, and Halloween Jack, will no longer be Dancing in the Street. The Man Who Sold the World deserves more Golden Years. I want to Scream Like a Baby. I feel like a Panic in Detroit Without You, Wild Eyed Boy from Freecloud. You who defended China Girl and built a Suffragette City with Diamond Dogs Looking for Water. I’m Deranged, Little Wonder. Let’s Dance to Fame and the Young Americans. I can Rebel Rebel all I want but you won’t rise like Lazarus. I will have to make Changes. I shall not lean on the Weeping Wall and wallow in Sorrow. From Across the Universe, can you see if there is Life on Mars? Can You Hear Me? You’ll make a great New Killer Star, the Prettiest Star. I shall Move On to look for another Modern Love.
I didn’t read the non-fiction book, Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself, on which this movie is based, but The End of The Tour is an enjoyable film that stars Jason Segel as the legendary author David Foster Wallace and Jesse Eisenberg as journalist and fellow writer David Lipsky. The movie begins in 2008 with Lipsky receiving disturbing news about Wallace. I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with either or both of these writers, but I don’t want to spoil anything. So, let’s just say the news Lipsky receives has him thinking back to his experience interviewing Wallace 12 years previously.

Sometimes the winter chill can only be warmed by eating a hot bowl of chili. Here is a complete meal in one pot with lots of fiber, vegetables, protein, and grain. I find the best meat to use is shredded beef, which I had pressure cooked the day before making this meal. However, you can use ground beef, turkey, or chicken. Or, even make it vegetarian. This is a bittersweet story about two violinists from two different time periods—contemporary and between pre-Nazi-occupied Italy and 1943. Their tales are told in every other section of the book. Professional violinist, Julia Ansdell—whose story is set in contemporary times—brings into her life a mysterious music composition she finds inserted in a music book she purchases in a small Italian antiques shop. Upon finishing a performance, she decides to shop for souvenirs and buys the book before flying back to the U.S., where she lives with her husband, Rob, and three-year-old daughter, Lily. The fridge is empty; the oven is cold. Looks like no one is making dinner tonight. Brad decides to go to his friend’s house next door. Brad’s been known to drop by Frank’s house at odd hours. He rings the doorbell, but no one answers. He knocks on the door, which swings open. Continue reading
