Exploring Egypt: Aswan

3rd of a series on my 7-day stay in Egypt

Took train to Aswan,
Southernmost part of Egypt,
Traveled thirteen hours.

From mainland to isle,
Boated to Philae Temple–
Temple of Isis.

Next sights were High Dam
And Unfinished Obelisk,
An ancient ruin.

Our Nubian host
Talked about their history,
And prepared a feast.

Next day:
Abut Simbel

To see the beginning:
1st day: Old Cairo
2nd day: Giza/Cairo

Exploring Egypt: Giza/Cairo

2nd of a series on my 7-day stay in Egypt

A sight to behold,
4,500 years old,
Structures in Giza.

Tried a camel ride,
Too high and shaky for me,
Thought I would fall off.

(Not a picture of me)

Another wonder,
Face to face with The Great Sphinx,
From across the dunes.

Drove back to Cairo,
To Egyptian Museum,
So many treasures.

Was a place to see.

Hump Day

Middle of the week,
Thinking ‘bout my travels to
Egypt and Jordan . . .

[Picture above was taken in Wadi Rum, Jordan.]

911 on 9/11

A day filled with emergencies,
Urgencies,
Insurgencies,
Divergencies.

A day to remember
Friends and family members
Among the embers
On the 11th of September.

State of the Union

A nation divided,

With leadership derided,

Rivaling factions

On a tangent of distractions.

The media giving them fuel,

Focusing on the drivel,

Congress continues to show inaction,

Amidst a circus of tawdry attractions.

The state of the union

Is like cutting an onion —

Makes you weep.

Lobster Role

Dismal chance of a lobster roll call as man hankers for lobster rolls.

Published Again!

“The new phone book’s here… I’m a somebody now.” This hilarious quote is from Steve Martin’s character in the movie called “The Jerk.”  Unlike that film, however, the new book that’s got me excited is an anthology — America’s Emerging Literary Fiction Writers: Northeast Region.

Once again, the publisher invited me to submit a short story from any of their given genres, and I chose “Lliterary.” I submitted a piece about finding true love . . . and they decided to publish it!

I encourage you to read more about my story if you’re so inclined in the matters of heart, relationships, and “homemade” meatloaf. Before I commit any more spoilers, the links below will take you to either Amazon or the publishing house’s website to purchase the book in paperback or e-book format.

May you be uplifted and inspired!

We live to love,
Love to give,
Give to live,
And the cycle goes on . . .
