Tall, proud, and breezy,
Waving independently,
The red, white, and blue.
Happy 4th of July!

Recline in your favorite chair,
Grab a cold refreshment,
Remove the ‘honey-do’ list from your view,
Take the remote control,
Remember we love you always,
Every day and not just today,
Recognizing it’s Father’s Day!

Age old beliefs of skin tone judging
Burrowed deep in values and teachings,
Inevitable repeating of past hurts and turmoil,
Leading tense situations to simmer, then boil.
Unity regarding skin deep beauty–
A fantasy outweighed by hate and cruelty.
Time to think differently,
And commit to true harmony,
Start with empathy,
Listen and learn continuously.
Look beyond the surface,
To realize healing and peace.

To all those who mothered,
Whether yours or theirs,
Whether for years or months,
You were still there,
And that you gave your motherly touch
Is all that matters.
Happy Mother’s Day!
It’s Cinco de Mayo,
Remember the margarita,
Or, is it the Alamo*?
Let’s do the cha cha cha,
Then serve the mojito
And tortilla chips and salsa;
Soon, we can go
And break open the piñata,
Via Zoom, Skype, or Zoho.

Coronavirus . . .
How I despise thee,
For thy unpredictability,
Spreadability,
Longevity,
Mostly . . .
For causing economic instability
And excess mortality.

Hippity hop,
Hoppity hip,
Cover-it-up
As you visit ‘n see
Friends and family;
Six feet away,
And forego the Easter buffet.
Another new year,
Gonna give it another try
To get in gear
And simplify
My ways
And days
To live the good life
With little strife.
Examples of good life:

Natural or dressed,
Ready to spread Christmas cheer,
Express it with fir.

Christmas is almost here
It’s a time for all to rejoice
But why O Lord is my heart so heavy
For someone we love was taken by choice
For you took him and we ask why the good dies young
Just as we finally begin to understand what we have
Then suddenly it disappears from our sight, our grasp
And we find ourselves alone, miserably sad
Am
But we turn to the sky, we glance upon that shining star
We begin to feel that love and we start to remember
As the birth of Christ is now upon us
We are never alone, we will always be together
F
It’s Christmas now and its forevermore
That darkness in us has brightened again
For the souls we thought we had lost
Have always been here, our loved ones and friends
G
Christmas is not a time for spite or anger
It’s not to question and walk astray
Because Love has never truly left us
For we will all join them someday
So
C
Live your life,
Merry Christmas to all,
And let your soul shine bright
