Seafood Crawl

Started with a lobster roll crave,
Then thoughts of calamari rings became grave,
Followed by dreams of clam chowder, a life-long fave.

So I planned a seafood crawl,
Like a fisherman going out to trawl,
Looking forward to eating the haul.

As a glimpse to my obsession,
Behold this presentation
Of my maritime preoccupation.

A Fruitful Affair

A banana fare
With strawberries and nuts flair,
Add yogurt and pear.

Recipe
Mix together:
1 ¼ – ½ cups flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
4 packets of coconut sugar (or your choice of sweetener and amount)
1 egg
3 mashed ripe bananas
3 tbsp. olive oil (or your choice of oil)
Enough cups of almond milk (or your choice of milk) to make a batter with texture of your preference

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F while mixing batter
  2. Pour batter in warmed, butter- or olive-oiled cast iron skillet
  3. Time for 15 minutes, at which time take out skillet and press/mix in sliced strawberries and return skillet to oven
  4. Time for 25 minutes and check to see if done, stick toothpick in and see if it comes out clean
  5. Serve and have a great morning or evening, if you want this to be a dinner fare

A Falls Trilogy

Falls Testimony
Never ending gush—
I love this Seattle site,
So open and green.

A Falls Witness
Through no fault of mine,
Proud to be a falls witness,
Understand my awe.

 Falls Memory
I remember now,
As a Snoqualmie* native,
I’m a waterfall.

*Taken in Snoqualmie, WA, while I visited Seattle last week.

Given Take

It is a given —
A baby takes all you give,
And gives you back joy.

Code E3 — Stat

Loaded and ready to go,
Appeared to have a good start,
Then flashed a code E3,

Thus began my woe;
The washer required a $600 part
Plus labor expenses charged hourly.

Instead of wasting my dough,
I took an old go-cart,
Piled in all my dirty laundry,

Like a furious bat,
I raced to the local laundromat,
STAT . . .

I’ll be parked here for a while,
Feeling like I’m in exile,
Until there’s no more unwashed pile.

Ghouls Gone Wild

The bash is a smash,
So much laughter and banter,
Endless libation and flirtation.

Ghouls gone wild . . .

Dracula dares to juggle for muggles,
While the mummy enjoys stuffing his tummy,
Leaving Frankenstein alone to zip through a line.

Ghouls gone wild. . .

There’s Michael Myers bragging his blade is sharper than Freddy Krueger’s,
Off in a corner is Pinhead trying to hook up with the walking dead,
And here’s Chucky who’s nobody’s doll and way too ugly for the cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Today’s Halloween, when ghouls gone wild.

Six Haiku Poems: Thou Shalt Not Steal

Another fine collaboration with my blogger friend, Rose, the Poet Rummager. This is a reminder of what not to do when you see a neighbor’s fruitful tree.

I grabbed the apple.
From the neighbor’s tree, it hung-
too ripe to ignore.

I see you there, thief.
Mr. Jones’ silhouette flinched.
He grasped his cane tight.

Oh, this juicy treat!
Where can I conceal my sin?
My mouth whispered, Here.

Parted my mouth wide
with tongue wrapped around the orb.
The snake in me cheered.

Slid down my throat whole –
enlarged my Adams Apple.
Damn that Granny Smith.

I heard my skull crack.
Mr. Jones wiped his cane clean.
No more stealing fruits!
