Missed two blog post days,
I will have to plead the fifth–
Just for the summer.*

Celebrate yourself,
Accept your significance,
For you are worthy.
Regardless of fate,
You make your own happiness;
It comes from within.
A purposeful life
Is to always be present.
Find joy in small things.
I want to tell you a tale
About what happened in Dubai.
One night after drinking ale,
I ran over this tall guy.
He had a long, forked tail
That he stuck into my eye.
Then he dragged me down to hell,
Where I stayed in a hot and smelly cell.

Look straight,
Or I’ll get cross.
Take care not to cross me;
Close your eyes and cross your fingers;
Now cross.
Your diploma is here,
You’ve reached a milestone,
This is your last school year!
Now time to pay off that Sallie Mae loan . . .
Sitting and watching,
Waiting for life to happen,
Stuck doing nothing.

Fun, festive events
Bring everyone together,
Small or grand reasons.
But what lurks behind?
An evil with deadly plans;
Innocent fun gone.
Spring, I entreat you,
Cast out this shivery clime!
Shine forth your warmth, long overdue;
Flowering buds are ready for showtime.
Pretty as you please,
Laid out luscious and sultry,
Looks are deceiving.
They may seem alike
But each brings her own delight.
Watch out for those tarts.

Brother-in-arms
Greeted with open arms,
Briefly disarmed
By disarming the ones you love.
But nighttime sounds of armaments
Break through the arms of Morpheus;
Can’t keep the memories of war
At arm’s length.
Thank you for your service*
And how you brought us peace,
Shouldn’t we do more
To help pick up your pieces?
